Note of Warning
Manually installing beta patches, or using them as "hotfix" by overwriting official game files is *NOT* recommended.
Overwriting official game files with beta files, experimental in nature, is generally not useful. You might have to reinstall your game if you need to install a patch or go back to a stable version.
Instead, It is recommended to install beta patches the official way, as mod folder "expansion/beta".
Needed Utilities
- 7zip: http://www.7-zip.org
Steps
- Download the Beta from http://www.arma2.com/beta-patch.php
- Open the zip file in 7-zip
- Right click the embedded ARMA2_OA_Build_#####.exe file, and select "Open Inside"
- Again, Right click the embedded ARMA2_OA_Build_#####.exe file, and select "Open Inside"
- Navigate to .rsrc\0\RCDATA\ALL\
- Extract the files to a temporary folder
- Rename the ARMA2OA.EXE#OA or #RFT depending on your game edition, to just ARMA2OA.exe
- Put it in a modfolder, and launch how you always launch the beta. Or alternatively overwrite your original game files with the contents of the modfolder, however this is NOT recommended, see top.
