The Chernarussian Defence Forces (CDF) are the combined military forces of the Republic of Chernarus.

History

2009 Chernarussian Civil War

In Autumn 2009, the CDF was involved a bloody civil war against various warring factions, namely the ChDKZ, a communist revolutionary organization, and occasionally, rebels from NAPA, a political party within Chernarus which turned to an armed campaign. During the 2009 Chernarussian Civil War, various warring factions wanted to overthrow the young and fragile Chernarussian democracy. Before the United States of America supported the CDF with its military forces, the CDF had a long list of battles and engagements with rebels from the ChDKZ.

2012 United Nations Organization Peacekeeping Operations in Takistan

In ArmA II: Operation Arrowhead, the Chernarussian Defence Forces are deployed to Takistan as part of a peacekeeping contingent for the United Nations Organization. Their equipment has not changed much from late 2009 to mid-2012, except for the fact that the camouflage schemes on their helmets have been replaced with a blue helmet cover emblazoned with the letters "UN" in bold white typeface, in addition, CDF military officers participating in the peacekeeping operations wear a blue beret pinned with the logo of the United Nations Organization, rather than their traditional patrol cap marked with the green and yellow star of the CDF. During their peacekeeping operations in Takistan, the CDF utilize their own vehicles, which are painted in white, emblazoned with the letters "UN" in a bold black typeface on the different faces of the vehicles.

Overview

The average Chernarussian Defence Forces soldier wears camouflage uniforms and utilizes equipment from that of the former Soviet military. Like the Soviets before them, CDF personnel wear an individual camouflage smock. Most of the CDF's weapons were acquired from former Soviet military stockpiles, back when Chernarus was a republic of the Soviet Union. The Chernarussian government had tried to update the CDF with newer equipment several times in the past.
