About USEC

The USEC website is a centerpiece of the group

USEC was opened on 1 April 2002 as a division of the Unity Virtual Aviation Community. Rather than being a clan, USEC conducts simulated military operations in a role-playing environment for mature players to provide the complete virtual military career. Currently a variety of gaming platforms are catered for across the four military battlespaces, including Flight Simulator 2004, Flight Simulator X, Silent Hunter 4, Armed Assault, and Armed Assault 2.

Force Groups

USEC currently operates four force groupings:

Each of these Force Groups is made up of a number of specific units and is commanded by a Force Commander, usually of General rank. Each Unit may operate slightly different gaming platforms that other units within the same Force Group. Currently a number of units across most of the Force Groups offer ArmA as a gaming platform to simulate operations.

Supported Units

The following Units use ArmA and ArmA 2 as a gaming platform:

Life at USEC

Enlistment

To enlist at USEC, applicants must first submit an application, and then complete the Basic Recruit Exam. This exam consists of 30 questions relating to the USEC Standing Orders. Applicants are recommended to register at the USEC forums, where they can gain access to the USEC Standing Orders, and the USEC Manual of Land Training before commencing the exam.

Once they have completed the Basic Recruit Exam, members are promoted to the rank of Recruit and await assignment to a unit. Upon approval of the recruits application they will be assigned to the appropriate unit, and may be required to complete additional training in their chosen platform of operations.

Training

Training is overseen by the Directorate of Training, in conjunction with the Unity Combat Academy and the Unity Flight Academy. The UCA is responsible for all ground training at USEC, whereas the UFA is responsible for flight training.

Training is a mix of multi-choice examinations completed online through the website, and practical assessments held in game with an instructor. At the end of most training a ribbon is usually awarded.

Operations

Training operations are conducted every week on our dedicated server. Sessions are usually password protected to ensure only USEC personnel are able to participate. Every few months a Deployment is simulated, comprising a combined effort between most Force Groups to achieve overall strategic objectives. Most Deployments result in some degree of Land Forces being deployed. During deployments, personnel are able to earn a variety of ribbons and medals.

Land Force Group

Commander: Brigadier General Trent "TheKaing" Blake

The Land Force Group uses Armed Assault as it's official gaming platform to simulate land operations. The Land Force Group represents the units within USEC that operate under Land Warfare Doctrine. Land forces include personnel, weapons platforms, vehicles, and support elements operating on land to accomplish assigned missions and tasks. USEC operates a number of units that simulate Land Forces either separately or as part of Joint operations.

The Land Force Group consists of 4 operational squadrons, including the UX-501 "Royal Lancers", UX-873 "Nighthawks", UX-511 "Steel Riders", and the UCA - Unity Combat Academy.

UX501 received the AAV in January 2009

Air Force Group

Commander: Brigadier General Lyndon "maceotago" Mason

The Air Force Group uses Flight Simulator 2004, Flight Simulator X and Armed Assault as official gaming platforms to simulate operations. The Air Force Group represents the units within USEC that operate under Air Warfare Doctrine. Aerial warfare is the use of military aircraft and other flying machines in warfare, including military airlift of cargo to further the national interest. USEC operates a number of gaming platforms that simulate both combat and non-combat roles within Air Warfare.

The Air Force Group consists of 4 operational squadrons, including the UFA - Unity Flight Academy, UX152 "Little Angels", UX302 "Globe Masters", and UX503 "Playboys".

Maritime Force Group

Commander: Lieutenant General Paul "tutmeister" Tutty

The Maritime Force Group uses Flight Simulator X, Silent Hunter 4, and Armed Assault as official gaming platforms to simulate operations. The Maritime Force Group represents the units within USEC that operate under Sea Warfare Doctrine. Naval warfare is combat in and on seas, oceans, or any other major bodies of water such as large lakes and wide rivers. USEC operates a number of units that simulate Naval Forces either separately or as part of Joint operations.

The Maritime Force Group consists of 2 operational squadrons, The PTG - Pacific Task Group, and UX-108 "Wet Eagles".

Special Force Group

Commander: General Dean "Rocket" Hall

The Special Force Group uses Flight Simulator X as official gaming platforms to simulate operations. The Special Force Group includes all aspects of Force Doctrine that are not included in the other Force Groups. This includes Aerospace and Space Doctrine. Space warfare is combat that takes place in outer space. Technically as a distinct classification, it refers to battles where the targets themselves are in space. Space warfare therefore includes ground-to-space warfare, such as attacking satellites from the Earth, as well as space-to-space warfare, such as satellites attacking satellites. It does not include space-to-ground warfare, where orbital objects attack ground targets directly, or the use of satellites for espionage, surveillance, or military communications.

The Special Force Group consists of 1 operational squadron, the UX-102 "Black Thunder", as well as containing the Virtual Intelligence Agency (VIA).

Benefits of Membership

The Force operates a high quality, rented, ArmA game server, as well as a website located on a dedicated server. Members participate in a regulated and rewarding environment, where recognition is passed in the form of promotions, staff appointments, medals, and ribbons. Members receive access to exclusive and custom built addon developments, such as the USEC C130, LHA, B1B, and F117. Many of these have not been released to the general public.

Training is conducted regularly, using the custom designed USEC Revolutions Training Facility. This facility contains practice ranges, ordinance ranges, and a special forces training facility. Members are able to complete training either offline, or online, and earn ribbons and qualifications badges. Originally, Forces deployed from this facility while on operational deployments. Recently however, USEC forces now deploy off the LHA developed for USEC although the principle remains the same.

Addon Development

USEC has a rich history of addon development, developing a number of addons for use both within the Force, and for release externally. The status of the major Addon projects are included below:

  • USEC Oil Rig - Alpha
  • USEC C130 - Beta
  • USEC Revolution - Released
