Note of Warning

Manually installing beta patches, or using them as "hotfix" by overwriting official game files is NOT recommended.

Overwriting official game files with beta files, experimental in nature, is generally not useful. You might have to reinstall your game if you need to install a patch or go back to a stable version.

Instead, It is recommended to install beta patches the official way, as mod folder "expansion/beta".

Needed Utilities

Steps

  • Download the Beta from http://www.arma2.com/beta-patch.php
  • Open the zip file in 7-zip
  • Right click the embedded ARMA2_OA_Build_#####.exe file, and select "Open Inside"
  • Again, Right click the embedded ARMA2_OA_Build_#####.exe file, and select "Open Inside"
  • Navigate to .rsrc\0\RCDATA\ALL\
  • Extract the files to a temporary folder
  • Rename the ARMA2OA.EXE#OA or #RFT depending on your game edition, to just ARMA2OA.exe
  • Put it in a modfolder, and launch how you always launch the beta. Or alternatively overwrite your original game files with the contents of the modfolder (after making a backup of the original files), however this is NOT recommended, see top.
