:: Ok I guess we were trying to minimize the number of links. What if we just created a single page thats not a category and then we can link to it from the community portal. The category could remain but wouldn't necessarily be linked from the community portal. This way we can still categorize the squad pages and make everyone happy. Wouldn't a UN-flag be more appropriate for a international squad? Mahlkav 14:39, 31 July 2006 (CEST)

Please only add to the top listing of links to Squad sites if there is no BI Wiki page for the Squad.

Is there any good way we can give the squads with wiki pages equal exposure as those who just link their homepage?

The wiki way should be rewarded a bit i think.. Right now they're very hard to find, and that's bad since this is a category. --Salisan 11:52, 3 August 2006 (CEST)

I have no idea what you mean.

The squads with a wiki page are listed in the list of Category articles at the bottom of the page.

How much more exposure do they need?

Planck 12:06, 3 August 2006 (CEST)

Noone ever gets to that list. There is currently alot of duplication with clans that are in both. When you click the TOC links you get to the top index, not the bottom one.

--Salisan 12:10, 3 August 2006 (CEST)

I have to disagree, there is no duplication.

Any that were in the top list, that were also in the article list were removed some days ago.

If any reappear I simply remove them again

Planck 12:35, 5 August 2006 (CEST)

i suggest one table with an extra link to a possible wiki page for each clan .. i.e. remove the bottom table and put that info in the top table

Cleanrock 14:19, 5 August 2006 (CEST)

You mean abandon the system of categorisation for Multiplayer Squads?

All Multiplayer squads belong to the Category Operation Flashpoint: Multiplayer Squads, that is why they are listed as articles for that category.

Planck 14:41, 5 August 2006 (CEST)

i mean one list like the existing top list .. that list shall contain all clans, each list entry can contain an optional link to the wiki page about that clan

imo, to exclude the clans with wiki pages from the first list like it is now is crap .. we want ppl to see all clans in one list

Cleanrock 21:19, 5 August 2006 (CEST)

I can see no reason for doing this.

When a squad page is made on the wiki it is categorised as belonging to Category Operation Flashpoint: Multiplayer Squads.

This is done by insertion of a link on the page to the category.

This is essentially how the wiki works the way it does.

The bottom list on the Category page is generated automatically.

I suggest instead that each squad or clan make their own wiki page, that would solve the problem.

Planck 13:24, 6 August 2006 (CEST)

For me it seems strange that the category page was edited to have such link list. Shouldn't such list be on its own article page, where it could contain all the squad links, no matter are they wikified or not?

Another funny thing is this how you guys use talk pages over here. In wikipedia (yeah yeah, this isn't wikipedia) replies are indented, not just replied below after line. Well anyway... :)

--Smartti 14:29, 6 August 2006 (CEST)

Exactly, this is the problem. Right now you don't want to have a page about your clan in the wiki as that actually makes it harder to find since it's not in the main TOC.
--Salisan 16:55, 6 August 2006 (CEST)

planck, then u shall decide to go with either the top list or bottom list .. as it is now its crap imo
