From what I experienced in A3 is laserTarget returns a null object. What you probably are experiencing is getPos of a null object returns [0,0,0]

You can only get a unit's lasertarget if it is local to you.
Cannot confirm this, maybe this was the case in early Arma, hence leaving the note here Killzone_Kid (talk) 10:01, 15 November 2015 (CET)
