ArmA 2 is Bohemia Interactive Studio's "next" project after Armed Assault (ArmA). There's very little information released up to this point.
Known, however is that ArmA 2 will put down a more complete version of Maruk's wish list when BI created Operation Flashpoint. The entire campaign will be dynamic, and be given a more RPG-like feel. The basic setup is like having a Command and Conquer game, but in wich you are the soldier and recieve orders from the AI commander instead.
Notes
The following information is written up from my (Codarl) intelligence gathered from various interviews, previews, and torture practices. Only Maruk/BI employees know what is 100% right.
The AI commander will be gathering information from patrols, patrols will be gathering information either trough observing, or from people that live in villages. You might encounter one of those patrols, and ask them what information they gathered. They gathered nothing, so you go to that village down in the valley to ask there.
Twenty people later, and nobody has admitted they've seen the enemy. In your annoyance, you drive a rocket propelled grenade into a house, killing a few villagers, and drive off. For obvious reasons, the villagers now like the colour of your uniform less, catch my drift?
But those villagers will be dealt with another time. You are hurrying your officer ass back to your camp, for something interesting has happened! yes yes! an enemy officer has been captured!
After some pursuading, the officer tells you what he has seen, what camps he knows of, where the biggest shortages in ammo/fuel are, and where other patrols roughly are. Your commander orders you and your team to board blackhawk helicopters that will take you, together with some supplies, to a location from where you can intercept a likely convoy that might be heading to resupply a base.
You are lucky! (or the AI's are a tiny bit synchronized.) ten minutes after the Blackhawk left your team near a road, a convoy shows up! Naturally, being a thought-out officer and with the help of one or two savegames, you managed to take out the convoy and are now standing amongst Russian corpses and smouldering vehicles.
Now you'd like to get back home, but there is no chopper available! You devise a evil plan, and after you have replaced the wheel of an ural with that of another one that was almost completely destroyed, you load up your squad and make your way home. (this really needs confirmation - cod)
This tale describes what the gameplay should be like. Oh, btw, that house you destroyed with that RPG at the start, will stay destroyed for the rest of the campaign!
This is a very ambitious project, of which fans only witnessed few screen shots of this title. This image shows communication with a fellow soldier. This is also the only image that shows the "RPG" style gameplay (interaction with other soldiers).
