As of at least the timestamp of this note, this command is broken in Arma 3. As a work-around use:
<pre>lbSetCurSel [_controlnum, _item]; //where _controlnum = the IDC, and _item is the index of an item</pre>
This works, but a side effect is that the control will be put in focus. If you do not want this,
select another control immediately after setting the listbox/combobox item.

Description:
Set the selection state of the given row of the given listbox. Listbox must support multiple selection.

This works, but a side effect is that the control will be put in focus. If you do not want this, select another control immediately after setting the listbox/combobox item.
