Could somebody 'in the know' elaborate a bit on this?
How exactly should the 'AnswerMe' be handled on this site?

If you have a question, put a link to AnswerMe on the page where you write the question. Nice people will check the page AnswerMe from time to time and click the What links here button, there they will see the page where you asked your question and added the link... --raedor 01:07, 21 July 2006 (CEST)
I guess my question was a bit ambiguous - sorry about thst. But I was more concerned with the policy regarding this function. Wouldn't this be potentially very 'dangerous', by turning this Wiki into a forum? Should we perhaps post some very clear instructions as to when and where it is appropriate to ask questions? --Kronzky 18:06, 21 July 2006 (CEST)
We should post some clear instructions on how to use it. Perhaps you could write something up? I'm going to be busy for the next few days. Or another Sysop can do it. :) hoz 03:44, 22 July 2006 (CEST)
Well, it's not really up to me to make the rules, but here's a draft of how I would interpret the use of the AnswerMe function: My Sandbox. --Kronzky 05:31, 22 July 2006 (CEST)
Actually, after looking very closely at your message's indentation I suspect that you were probably not addressing me in the first place, but replying to raedor? :0 (In that case, just ignore my post...)
I like what you wrote, I'll add a small blurb on guidelines page in the morning if you add your text to the article tx for the help :). Ignore my indenting I'm just getting the hang of this. 05:36, 22 July 2006 (CEST)

A wiki is a dynamic, constant 'work in progress'. Other people who read the page will most likely complete the information over time.
In general though, it is preferred that you only post about things that you know. If you are writing about a subject, and there are issues you're not sure about, just leave it out.

With respect, I think this is the wrong approach. You've overlooked the point that contributors may not know what needs to be written until it is explicitly pointed out to them. An AnswerMe tag is one way of pointing out that information on a topic is incomplete and could be improved by someone who actually has the answer (not necessarily one of the BIS developers). I understand that you wish to avoid a flood of 'when will ArmA be released?' questions but surely there is room to point out areas in the wiki that need further clarification. I'm thinking particularly of the ComRef which omits to document many special-cases. --sbsmac
