squad.xml – Talk
The xml, dtd and xsl files can also be hosted on an FTP server.
It's recommended that you have a seperate login on your FTP for your squad xml files and restrict access to this folder to 'read only' with no 'folder listing'.
Read your respective FTP server softwares help information for how to configure access to the files as there are many ways one can configure the settings.
Eg. Our clan is XYZ Clan.
Our ftp administrator setup a folder on the ftp server called 'XYZTags' and created a ftp server account called XYZ with permission only to 'read' the contents of this folder and no login password.
The squad.dtd, squad.xsl and several different xml files and their respective .paa files were loaded into this folder.
The various squad members were then given urls in the following format to place in there in-game userprofiles.
ftp://XYZ@www.somedomainname.com/1sec.xml
or
ftp://XYZ@111.222.333.444/1sec.xml

- This surely is interesting but I don't think FTP is as feasable as HTTP (more overhead, for instance). Also, most clans should at least have a webspace, but the possibility to add an FTP login isn't necessarily present. -- Manny 04:57, 14 May 2007 (CEST)
@Manny... It's not a forum. It's a biki. If you 'see' information that is incorrect then please feel free to correct it. FTP is a protocol by which the 'xmls' for ArmA can be 'hosted'.--Sy 02:08, 6 June 2007 (CEST)
Is it possible to turn off squad xml on units per mission? --MessiahUA 23:32, 1 January 2008 (CET)
Something's wrong with this page
I have it set up such that the information shows up ('p' screen) and the title field shows up on vehicles I get in. However, there is apparently no friggin way to get a picture anywhere. Not in the P-layer list/info and not on the vehicles or arm. I tried just jpg, I tried converting to paa, I've used example pictures others have had working (some in ofp), converting those to paa, ... I don't know anything I haven't tried at this time. The webserver access logs show that ArmA has found and downloaded the xml - same goes for the picture - but it never shows. Done with 1.07b2, and also tried some with 1.05.
Someone ought to figure out what it takes to have these files work, and put it here. --MaHuJa 21:24, 3 June 2007 (CEST)

Allowed characters
can someone please tell me who can provide a verified list of allowed characters in the nick-attribute inside the squad-element?

Hi here is what you can do as a work around instead of useing the actual Characters replace then with the ISO value here is a list at http://armatechsquad.com look on the xml host help section on the forum i did try and post it here but this wii converts the ISO test back to the readble type EG "& # 2 5 5;" == ÿ. Note add added spaces so it would not be reformatted
Gimp info out of date.
The save procedure seems different for Gimp 2.6.6 now. Could someone update this entry to reflect the current procedures?
